july, july, july...

hey dudes

im currently sitting somewhere outside worcester, massachusetts at our friends house. the past few days have been kind of nuts to say the least. after spending almost 12 hours in the car and driving through the night, we arrived in cranston, rhode island and began to work.

after meeting up with casey and andy at the studio, jeff proceeded to lay down some tight ass drum tracks on next to no sleep whatsoever. for that, i can do nothing but applaud him. personally, i was amazed. andy was kind enough to let jeff, joe (our friend who came along to grab some pictures and just hang out) and i crash at his place, which was very nice of him.

day 2 mostly consisted of yours truly laying down bass tracks. although andy and i worked deep into the night on them, they came out amazing and gave the rest of the band, who arrived today, a lot to work with.

casey and andy have been amazing to work with to say the absolute least. they understand our vision perfectly and have been driving us to work very hard. i probably haven't worked this hard on anything in my life thus far, but the experience has been amazing.

i think it will only get better.

more information and pictures to come soon.

cheers,
brian

Is this really happening?

For monthes, I have known about this week coming up. I had doubts, but after everything...it's happening.

I may never record professional every again, who knows? This week is going to be magical. My parents keep telling me about everything that could go wrong. Hell, my computer could explode as I write this. I don't think my parents can even grasp my inner excitement. The band is on its own for a week, and we don't have our parents watching our every footsteps. This is truly going to be an important week in my life as I spend 7 days recording amazing music, with some of my best friends.

Along with brian, I am so nervous

Love, Jeff

it's just a matter of time, young man

(edit: mike has also posted a new thought beneath this one. so read that too!)

oh receiving end of sirens. i will always love you.

it's also just a matter of time before we leave to record with a former member of treos! lolnamedropz.

anyways, our house show on the 4th, barring any dramamama that took place after 1 am (long after your boys had packed up and brought the rock), was an amazing success. it just proved to me that no matter who is around, as long as there is good people, good music, and good energy... fun is not far behind. here are some pics from that little ditty. thanks so much to joe for having us and dealing with all the other shit that went down that night.

i love you mrs. arnoff:

the party actually started once we (ok, mostly me) started getting tangled up in the light fixtures...

mr clean decided to show up because we were rocking the germs off of everyone:

ben austin:

again, the show itself was an amazing time. if i have anything to do with it, this won't be the last time we're going to be rocking people in the comfort of their own home. keep an eye out...

jeff and i leave to start recording in 48 hours. i would be lying if i said i wasn't a tad nervous. but i am pumped. this is one of the coolest things i've ever done.

cheers,
brian
Last night was a night to remember for His Hideous Heart.

We performed in our friend Joe's living room, Christmas light clad and bold with meed, we celebrated the freedom of our fine and slightly dysfunctional nation.

We have never had a better time performing and I don't think our crowd has ever had as much fun watching us and participating in the performance. We want to thank you all for the spectacular time and thank Joe for letting us take over part of his house.

Though I would like to try to keep this as the most memorable moment of the night, the aftermath proved a stiff competition. I will try not to dwell on it too much, but I will just say that there are people in this world who exist to only brew hate and to boost their own egos with silly, hurtful means, be it disrespecting others, starting fights, or hitting innocent people with baseball bats.

I would just like to say that I don't understand why these people exist, and I hope we never have to see them again while we are trying to just have a good time and spread love. I think these individuals who tried to ruin our night will probably get what is coming to them, and I think they will deserve it.

We hope to play another house show soon, and hopefully many more in the future, and we hope to see you all there smiling and dancing.

Next stop: Rhode Island.

Keep checking back!

Love, Mike

don't make me a target

hey friends, brian reporting in

i dunno how i never managed to get into the band Spoon before now... they are awesome. i'm currently listening to their latest one 'Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga' and this is some nice rock n roll.

so we inch ever closer and closer to our recording time, and my anticipation is building. i know it's going to be such an awesome experience. i cant wait to have our musical ideas fully realized for the first time in the history of this band. even with all the corner cuttings we've had to do over time due to lack of equipment, money, time, or expertise, i've always felt at least somewhat satisfied. the fact that i'm going to be able to listen to a professionally recorded and mixed product and be able to say 'that's us' is more exciting than i can really say.

for any readers of this blog, i would like to ask you a favor. i just submitted some news regarding our band's recording session with casey crescenzo to absolutepunk.net's small band round up.

i'm sure they would be much more likely to post it if multiple people were to submit it. if you have the time, just shoot a quick e-mail over to:

jamie.pham@absolutepunk.net

make the subject 'SBRU' and say anything along the lines of 'his hideous heart from cleveland, oh will be recording a new album with Casey Crescenzo (the dear hunter) in July' and include these links:

http://www.myspace.com/hishideousheart
http://www.purevolume.com/hishideousheart

that would be super awesome.

i love the weather this time of year. the fact that it shifts so much every day, every hour. one minute it's pouring rain, the next there's a beautiful sunset. i like being kept on my toes like that.
